WHO REALLY ARE THE JELES OF ZAMBIA MALAWI AND TANZANIA?

THE JELE ROYALTY IN THE HOUSE.

A picture that will stand the test of time! From left to right; Prince Inthabeni Jele, Princesses Benadete and Sonile Mafavuke Jele (she is now late) captured together in the Makeni area in Lusaka, Zambia.

These three Jele royalties are actually children of His MAJESTY King Pontino Msandukuzeni Khuzwayo Jele, who reigned as the Third King Mphezeni from 1941 upto his death in 1981, a year after he gloriously resurrected the Incwala after it's more than 80 year hiatus.

With the exception of Princess Benadete, both Prince Inthabeni and Princess Sonile were born from the house of Queen Atinedi Jessi Divine who lived in the Luangeni village.

These Jeles just like the others with roots from Zwangendaba Jele are of the Ncwangeni royal bloodline. In the case of these descendants of Zwangendaba, their apical ancestor was Prince Jele.

Now Prince Jele was the  son of Prince Mfeka kaMncwanga. Prince Mfeka had married 7 wives and begot Crown Prince Thekeya kaMfeka eNdlunkulu and begot Prince Jeye/Jele kaMfeka eKhohlo. It was King Mfeka kaMncwanga who is the founder of the Ncwangeni Kingdom.

Now, the Ncwangeni also known as the Mfekana first occupied Ndwandwe land along the uPhongolo river down to the east of the Bivana river. They trace their origins to the early 13th century to their apical ancestor Prince Mncwanga kaYanga I Ndwandwe.

Now it should be mentioned that, when the Ncwangeni settled on this coastal land, the Mkhwanazi, Mthethwa, Msweli and Mcambi clans had not yet arrived and some other Ncwangeni clans such as the Phakathi, Mzimela and Msane among others had not as yet emerged.

King Mfekaye then instructed his first born son in iKhohlo (Junior house) Prince Jele kaMfekaye to establish himself in the St Lucia area and lead the Ncwangeni section in that part of the Kingdom to which those people became known as abakwaJele, the people of Jele.

King Jele kaMfeka who was also known as Nkabaluthuli begot King Nguboyengwe who begot King Dlomo who begot King Nonyanda who begot King Mangangatha who begot King Hlatshwayo who begot King Zwangendaba and King Somkhanda. King Zwangendaba led an exodus that established the present BaNgoni Kingdoms in Tanzania, Zambia and Malawi.
