RENOWNED NGUNI ELDER, MTWALO NZIMA DIES

AN END OF AN ERA'. THE GIANT FALLS

One of the villages founded by, Zwangendaba called Emveyewyeni (Emthenguleni), which is located in Eastern Zambia, is in the mourning period.

One of it's most celebrated son's Baba uMtwalo Nzima passed on yesterday, in Chipata, the headquarters of Eastern Zambia. Baba Mtwalo Nzima hailed from the village of Lushangeni (Makwatata) which is under Inkosi Madzimawe.

His death has silenced not only the Ngoni Nation but also the media fraternity in Eastern Zambia. Baba Nzima was a regular voice for the very first private radio station in the Eastern region of Zambia. Baba Nzima was at the time of his death a marriage counselor for Radio Breeze which was for a long time, the face of private radio stations in Chipata.

Particularly for the Ngonis, Baba uMtwalo Nzima's name can never be erased. Just like his father, he too served the Ngoni Nation in the best way he could. For example, in the 1980s,during the tenure of Blackson Lukhelo as the Chairman General of Ncwala, baba Mtwalo Nzima was the Vice Secretary for the same organization; Mr Justine Tembo was the Secretary.

He was still a part of the Ncwala committee for many years and at the time of his demise was the Chairman for the Heritage and Museum Committee of the larger Ncwala Committee.

Baba uMtwalo Nzima will be put to rest, tomorrow, 16th April, 2022 in his home village of Lushangeni.

Baba Mtwalo Nzima loved his heritage and mesmerized Radio Breeze listeners.

The Nzimas became part of the Zwangendaba story when the latter temporarily stayed in modern day Eswatini. For the Nzimas in Zambia particularly, their ancestral village is Ndima village, under Inkosi Madzimawe. This is the village that birthed the many Nzima villages in the different parts of the Mphezeni Nation.
