THE LEGEND OF AMON SIMUTOWE!

 WHAT HAPPENED TO AMON SIMUTOWE?

Chess history is incomplete without the mention of GM Amon Simutowe.

The moving story of this force of nature born in the second largest Zambian city of Ndola who defied odds and became the third black Grandmaster and first from SubSaharan Africa is well documented.

His name brings Africa on its feet. He no doubt left a trail of inspiration for many chess players, not just in his native country of Zambia but in the whole SubSaharan region where he continues inspiring a godly like adulation.

And yet in today's Zambian chess world, what has remained is the legend of his name. A lot of looming questions on this icon being. Will he ever represent Zambia? Is he still an active player? Will Zambia ever produce another Amon Simutowe?
